Mike Meyers Movie: The Love Guru- Straight to Video?

You know, I had previously seen the trailer, and saw Mike Meyers as the Love Guru last night on American Idol.

After watching both performances, "Austin Powers it aint Baybeee!"   Actually it came across pretty  lame, trying to recapture his Fame and intro new Catch Phrases like he did a decade ago.  Myers even includes his old Dr. Evil twin  "Mini Me".

But to base the premise of the movie on his fave Toronto Leafs Hockey Team, well, right there he gets a penalty for Bad "Acting " Conduct!  There is a saying, a beaten child is taken into custody by child welfare, and when searching for a home for the child, the Judge said Child Welfare must ensure the mistreated child must never face the humility of abuse again.  The child welfare worker piped up "Your Honour, I have the perfect family!!!   In which the Welfare worker again replied, The Child will be put into the custody of the Toronto Maple Leafs, because everyone knows "the Leafs can't beat anybody".   This Guru movie is similar to the Leafs, as it will certainly not be beating box office records.

I can only guess why he made this movie is because someone drove up to his house with a tractor trailer full of money. 

As for racist overtones, oh please get over it, it's comedy!

Sad to say, but after reading other posts, I think this Swami, may be heading straight to "Bollywood video".

Mike Myers was a big fan of the buffoonish Insp. Clouseau of the Pink Panther films as a child, introduced to the rip-roaring but politically incorrect movies by his beloved father, a comedy junkie himself.

But is the brand of cultural humour that has infused the Toronto-born Myers's work — from the Austin Powers franchise to the upcoming The Love Guru — becoming a relic of the past?

The Love Guru, about a goofy Hindu self-help coach who tries to solve the marital woes of a Toronto Maple Leafs player.
